“RALPH!” Jack announced with an animalistic shriek.

Ralph kept on running, he was determined to stow himself away from the hunters, especially Jack. The fear of ending up like Piggy and Simon coursed ravenously through Ralph’s veins. He would not die like they did. He would survive to see his family again, and seek someone to bear witness the terrors of the boat shaped island.

“Roger I want you and two littluns to scout the island for Ralph.” Jack looked at roger with a fierce burn in his eyes.

Jack scoured one half of the island for Ralph. Prowling through the jungle he finally eyed Ralph. Ralph was sitting near the stream for a sip of water. As Ralph drank noisily Jack silently approached him from behind, quietly like a panther. He could see the sweat glistening on Ralph’s back, and realized how sweltering it was there beside the stream. It was as if Ralph was radiating anger. Jack realized that his painted face was dripping, and drop after drop was getting closer to Ralph. Jack wiped the sweaty drops of face paint away hastily, but Ralph saw Jack’s hideous reflection in the stream as he looked up from drinking. He spun around in a blur.

“Jack you had better stay back! You murderous wretch! Why are you here? Are you going to kill me yourself? Speak fool!” Ralph roared with the fury from the deaths of his friends.

“Calm down! I regretfully say I am not here to hunt you. I have a proposition for you if you are willing to listen.” Jack soothed as he prowled in circles around Ralph.

“Why should I listen to a traitor like you?! Someone I know will go back on his word, like the hypocrite he is!”

“I want a truce Ralph! I want to get off this horrible island as much as the next fellow. You should know this yourself: however, I have realized that we need to stay together now. My actions previously may show that I do not deserve the answer I want from you, and I accept that.”

“You are sure right about not deserving this answer. You can go die on your Castle Rock!” Ralph hurled at Jack, and started to run.

Jack flew after Ralph. He knew this would never work. He should have forced Ralph to agree somehow. As Jack reached the same stride as Ralph, he decided on what to do.  With as much strength as manageable, Jack threw all of his body weight against Ralph and tackled him.

“Listen to me! You know this is the only way we will be able to get off the island and get back to civilization again. Not to mention to see our families! Do you not want that?! You would be an idiot not to accept this truce. We could leave you here to die, or” Jack growled with a predatory grin, “I could just kill you now.”

“Fine! I agree to the truce, but you and your wild savages must follow my rules completely. There will be no ways around it, is that understood?”

“Yes.” Jack sneered at the boy he was sitting on.

Everyone gathered on the beach within the next hour. Ralph saw everyone from the littluns to SamnEric, and Roger. Roger glared at him with hate. At least they were more likely to get off the island working together Ralph thought.

“Alright everyone there are a few objectives to go over. First off, we need to keep watch for ships or airplanes. I propose we keep watch in shifts. We will all have at least a two hour shift and I will appoint who takes each shift. Any questions?” Ralph waited in stark silence as he waited for protest. “No, alright. Next off we need to keep a fire going at all times. This is top priority as of right now. As soon as this meeting is over SamnEric and the littluns will go gather wood and green leaves, and we will light it. Lastly, do not at any time let that fire go out. We will also be taking shifts on watching the fire which also will be delegated by me. Also, if anyone sees a ship or airplane warn us immediately! Alright let’s get to work!”

                                          Ten Years Later

“We have been off that island for ten years, and remembering the horrible things that happened haunts me every day.” Scribbled Ralph. He had been journaling every day since getting off the island. He could not forget the horrors experienced and the regret he had in not being able to keep the group together and happy. As well as losing some of the best friends he could have asked for. He still woke up every night in a cold sweat from a nightmare, Jack stood over him with pointed teeth, and grinned. He was going to die. He turned his face away from Jack’s gruesome grin and saw the cold, dead eyes of Piggy and Simon. They were both smiling with the same sharp teeth as Jack, and started speaking, “Ralph why did you not keep your rules. You could have saved us from these horrid deaths. This should be you, not us.” Piggy and Simon got up and morphed into the sow’s head on the stick.” Then Ralph would wake up. Sometimes he would wake up screaming it felt so real.

“Roger,” a gruff voice said, “Go get Mr. Flannagan.” Jack snarled.

He looked down at his watch. This was not going as planned. He needed to get this murder over with, and head back to the headquarters. If he was caught and persecuted, he would not have an heir to the cult he built. Roger was back as soon as he glanced up. He grinned and looked down at the man.

“Are we ready?” He said as soft as a breeze to Roger.

“Of course, as always.” Roger sighed and looked at Flannagan “Are you ready to finally go to the other side?” growled Roger as he ended the young man.

Jack and Roger had to slink away and leave no trace behind besides their cult’s symbol. None of their homicides have ever been solved always ending on cold cases. Jack was the leader of o strictly controlled group of killers, and he liked it that way. He felt as though he had as much power, or maybe even more than he did on that island. What he did have, was the same satisfaction of the hunt he had on the island, here in England. He and Roger progressed from human to human, bullying their way to power. They were leaders of many people all that feared them, especially Jack. He was the murderer called The Lord of the Flies.

this is an alternate ending that we were required to write for Lord of the Flies. It has a few errors, but over all I really enjoyed writing this prompted piece which is odd enough. Enjoy.
